Dental implants in Tirana, planned before you travel

A dental implant is a titanium screw placed in the jawbone to carry a crown, a bridge or a denture. At Medicus Molaris in Tirana every implant is planned on a CBCT scan before you travel, placed by the dentist who will treat you and, where the anatomy is tight, positioned with a surgical guide printed from that scan. Fixtures start at 300–450 euro, a finished tooth with a zirconia crown is 450–650 euro, and the written guarantee on the fixture is 5 years.

Send a panoramic X-ray or a CBCT scan through the quote form and the dentist who will treat you will tell you how many implants your case needs, whether bone has to be built first, and the exact total. 24 hours, free.

Why the scan comes before the flight

A panoramic X-ray flattens a curved jaw into one image. It shows a gap; it does not show how wide the bone is behind that gap, how close the nerve canal runs, or how far the sinus has dropped since the tooth was lost. Those three measurements decide whether your case is one implant next week or a bone graft and a wait.

A CBCT scan gives the bone in three dimensions, and reading it before you book a flight is the difference between a plan and a hope. It is also how a clinic can honestly commit to a price: the two things that most often turn a quoted implant into a more expensive procedure on the day are bone volume and sinus position, and both are visible on a scan taken months in advance. Where you already have a recent CBCT, send it and we may not need to repeat it.

Guided surgery, and where it matters

A surgical guide is a printed template that sits over your teeth and directs the drill along the angle and to the depth planned on the scan. It is not a gimmick and it is not always necessary. It earns its place when an implant has to be angled between a nerve and a sinus, when several implants must end up parallel enough to carry one bridge, or when the bone is narrow enough that a two-millimetre error would leave the fixture exposed.

The three systems, and what the difference buys

System Price of the fixture When it is the right choice
Unbranded system 300–450 euro straightforward sites with good bone, where the fixture is not doing anything unusual
Nobel Biocare 700 euro cases needing a well-documented surface and a component range available worldwide
Straumann BLT 800 euro narrow ridges, grafted bone, heavy bite forces, long-span bridges

The crown is priced separately in all three cases, at 150–250 euro in zirconia, which is why an implant with its crown comes to 450–650 euro on the entry system. Whichever fixture is used, the manufacturer, reference and lot number are recorded in your file and printed on the document you take home, so a dentist in your own country can order a matching part in ten years.

What the premium systems actually buy you is documentation and availability: decades of published follow-up data, and a component catalogue stocked in most countries. What they do not buy is a different outcome in a straightforward site with healthy bone. A clinic that puts every patient on the most expensive fixture is not being careful, it is being commercial, and a clinic that puts every patient on the cheapest one is doing the same thing in the other direction.

Not sure which system your case needs? That is the sort of question the plan answers with a reason attached. Ask on WhatsApp at +355 69 691 1118 and send your X-ray, and you will get the recommendation and the price of the alternative alongside it.

Why implants take two trips

Bone does not grip a screw; it grows onto it. Osseointegration is that process, and in the lower jaw it usually takes three months, in the upper jaw four to six, longer again where bone has been grafted. Loading a fixture before it has integrated is the commonest way an implant is lost, which is why a plan that finishes a final crown in the same week as the surgery deserves a question rather than a booking.

The practical shape of that is two trips of two to three days each, with the gap spent at home. Between them you are not toothless: a temporary is provided wherever the gap is visible.

When bone has to be built first

Bone shrinks after a tooth is lost, quickly in the first year and slowly after that, which is why a gap left for a decade often cannot take a fixture without help. A graft adds volume at 200–400 euro and is frequently done in the same appointment as the implant. Where the upper back teeth are involved and the sinus has dropped, a sinus lift at 500–800 euro creates the height instead.

Both are decided on the scan, priced in your plan before you travel, and explained on bone grafting for implants. Whether your own situation allows an implant at all, and what smoking, diabetes or bisphosphonate medication mean for the planning, is the subject of whether you are a candidate for dental implants.

Your visit, day by day

Day What happens
Day 0 fly in, no appointment, so a delay costs nothing
Day 1 examination against the plan, CBCT, confirmation, then surgery the same day if you agree
Day 2 review of the surgical site, instructions in your language, temporary fitted if needed
Day 3 fly home, or a spare day if the plan involved several fixtures
Months 3–6 healing at home, photographs by WhatsApp, remote review
Second trip 2–3 days: abutment, digital impression, crown made in Tirana and fitted

FAQ

How long does a dental implant last?

Published follow-up on the premium systems runs to decades, and a fixture that integrates and is kept clean is usually still there twenty years later. The crown on top is the part with a shorter life: zirconia crowns typically run ten to fifteen years before wear or a change in the gum line makes replacement sensible. Nobody can tell you an implant will last for ever, and a clinic that does is selling rather than informing. What changes the odds most is not the brand but gum health, smoking and whether you grind.

Is a Straumann implant worth twice the price of the entry system?

In some mouths, clearly yes; in many, no. It is worth it where bone is narrow or grafted, where the bite is heavy, or where a long bridge puts load on few fixtures, because the surface and the thread design of a well-documented system genuinely change the margin for error. In a wide, healthy site carrying a single molar crown, the entry system at 300–450 euro does the same job. Your plan will say which situation you are in and quote both.

Does implant surgery hurt more than an extraction?

Usually less, which surprises people. An extraction has to break the attachment between a tooth and bone, while an implant is placed into a prepared channel. Both are done under local anaesthetic and neither is painful during the procedure. Afterwards, expect two to four days of soreness and some swelling, managed with the prescription you are given. The honest description is uncomfortable, not dreadful, and most patients are eating carefully by day three.

How many implants do I need for several missing teeth?

Not one per tooth. Two fixtures can carry a three-tooth or four-tooth bridge, and a full arch is usually restored on four or six. The number is set by where the bone is, not by the number of gaps, which is why the scan decides it and not the price list. The costed options for each pattern are worked through on dental implant cost in Tirana.

What is actually in the price?

The fixture, the surgery, the sterile kit, the anaesthetic, the sutures, the CBCT taken here for planning, the post-operative review while you are in the city, and the written guarantee. The crown or bridge is a separate line, priced from the published list, and the abutment is included with it. Nothing is charged for the plan, the coordination or the imaging. How the document is built and what can move is set out on how your quote works.

Use the quote form, attach your X-ray or CBCT and say which teeth are missing and for how long. The dentist who will treat you reads it, plans the fixtures on the scan and sends you the written plan with a exact total within 24 hours.
