Porcelain Veneers in Tirana: E-max, Minimal Preparation, One Visit

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of E-max ceramic bonded to the front of a tooth. Each one is 200–350 euro here, and a full front-teeth case fits into one visit of 5 to 6 days because the ceramist works in Tirana while you are in the city. The part of this page worth reading twice is not the price: it is the section on when a veneer is the wrong treatment, because the single most common problem we see in patients arriving for revision work is a crown that was sold as a veneer.

Send three photographs: a natural smile, a wide smile showing the teeth apart, and one of the upper teeth from above. That is enough for a written opinion on whether veneers suit your case and how many you actually need.

What the tooth loses, and what it keeps

A veneer covers the visible face of the tooth and a sliver of the biting edge. The enamel behind and around it stays. That matters more than it sounds: enamel is what a veneer bonds to, and the bond is what holds it for years. A veneer cemented onto dentine, after the enamel has been ground away, is a weaker construction than either a veneer or a crown done properly.

So the preparation is deliberately shallow, and it is designed on the mock-up rather than freehand. In some cases, where teeth are slightly small or worn inwards, almost no preparation is needed at all.

When a veneer is the wrong answer

Veneers fail when they are used to solve a problem they were not designed for. Be careful of any quote that puts veneers on every one of these:

  • A heavily filled or broken tooth. There is not enough sound enamel to bond to. That tooth needs a crown, which is a different price and a different preparation: zirconia crowns covers it.
  • A root-treated front tooth. It is more brittle and often discoloured from inside. A crown, sometimes with a post, is the honest answer.
  • Teeth that are out of line rather than the wrong shape. A veneer can disguise a small rotation. It cannot move a tooth, and grinding a prominent tooth back far enough to hide the position is how enamel gets destroyed.
  • An untreated grinding habit. Ceramic on an unprotected bite has a short life. If you grind, the guard is part of the treatment and not an accessory.

The difference between the two treatments, and how to read a quote to see which you are being given, is set out on veneers or crowns. It is also the core of veneers in Turkey or Albania, where published veneer prices of €150–400 often describe crowns.

The mock-up comes before the drill

Nothing irreversible happens on day one. The teeth are photographed and scanned, a design is drawn digitally, and a trial version is placed over your own teeth in composite so you can see the length, the shape and the line of the smile in your own face, in daylight, before any enamel is touched. You can ask for the edges shorter, the shape softer, the shade warmer. Changes made at that stage cost nothing.

The shade is chosen at the same appointment, against your skin and eyes rather than from a chart on its own. Very white is a choice available to you; it is not the default, and we will say so if it will look wrong next to your lower teeth.

Number of E-max veneers Price in euro
Per veneer 200–350
20 veneers, a full visible smile 4,000–7,000
Whitening of the lower teeth to match, if needed 100–200
Consultation, photographs and digital design Free

A single E-max veneer is quoted at £500–1,000 in the United Kingdom. Worked totals for 6, 8, 10 and 20 veneers here are on veneers cost.

Ask for the number of veneers your case needs rather than the number in the package. Eight or ten is the usual honest answer for a visible smile, and it is often less than the figure people arrive expecting. Photographs to WhatsApp +355 69 691 1118 if that is quicker.

FAQ

How many veneers do I need?

Count the teeth that show when you smile widely in a mirror, which for most people is eight or ten on the upper jaw. Twenty covers upper and lower visible teeth and is only needed when both arches show. A plan that specifies twenty without looking at how you smile is selling a package. Your plan names each tooth by number.

Do veneers damage the teeth underneath?

Preparing a tooth for a veneer removes a thin layer of enamel and that does not grow back, so it is a decision and not a trial. Done at the right depth on a healthy tooth, the tooth stays strong and sealed. The damage cases come from over-preparation, where a veneer is used to correct position or to cover a tooth that needed a crown.

Will they stain like natural teeth?

E-max ceramic itself does not absorb stain the way enamel does, so coffee, tea and red wine affect it far less. The margin where ceramic meets tooth is the part to keep clean, and your own unveneered teeth will keep changing colour, which is why the shade is chosen with the rest of your mouth in mind rather than to be the whitest available.

Can I have veneers if I grind my teeth?

Usually yes, with the guard, and the guard is not optional in that case. Grinding is the main mechanical cause of chipped ceramic. We take the impression for it at the fitting appointment so you leave with it.

What happens if one chips in two years?

A single veneer is replaced; the others are untouched. The shade is matched from your file, which holds the original ceramic recipe and photographs, and the written guarantee runs 5 years with its conditions stated. Send a photograph first and you will be told whether it needs replacing or polishing.

Can I do fewer now and more later?

Yes, and it works well when budget is the constraint. The design is drawn for the whole smile, then executed in two stages: the four front teeth first, the premolars on a later trip. The shade is recorded so the second stage matches. Where a case is really about shape and proportion across the whole smile, read smile makeover before splitting it.

Use the quote form with your three photographs. The dentist who will treat you confirms how many veneers are indicated, which teeth need a crown instead, the days and the exact total, by e-mail within 24 hours. The quote rules are on how your quote works.
