Dental Implants in Tirana or Istanbul: How to Compare the Two
If you are weighing up dental implants in Turkey vs Albania, the price per implant will not decide it for you. Published ranges overlap: a single implant in Turkey is quoted at €300–700, and at this clinic in Tirana an implant is €300–450 with an unbranded system, €700 for a Nobel Biocare implant and €800 for a Straumann BLT. Both countries sit far below the £2,000–2,500 a single implant is quoted at in the UK. What actually differs is the shape of the quote, the number of dentists who will touch your mouth, whether the second trip is in the plan from the beginning, and who you can reach in eighteen months when a crown feels high.

The Turkey figures come from published September 2026 price surveys, not from a single clinic, and the range is wide for a reason: a €300 implant and a €700 implant are different products with different systems behind them. Our own range is published the same way, treatment by treatment, on the dental implant cost page.
Send your panoramic X-ray or CBCT file and a note of which teeth are missing. The dentist who will treat you reads it and you get a written treatment plan with a exact quote, tooth by tooth, before you book anything.
Why the cheapest line on a quote is rarely the price you pay
An implant quote has at least four parts: the fixture, the abutment that connects it to the crown, the crown itself, and any bone work needed before the fixture can go in. A headline price can legitimately mean any one of those four. When you compare €400 against €650, you are usually comparing a fixture against a fixture plus abutment plus crown, which is why patients who did the sums at home arrive with a figure that then doubles.
Our quotes are written as one line per tooth with the system named on the line. If the CBCT shows you need a graft, the graft is on the plan before you fly, at €200–400, and if it shows a sinus lift, that is on the plan too at €500–800. Nothing is discovered on the chair on a Tuesday morning when you have a flight on Thursday. The twelve lines that go missing from package quotes are listed on the hidden costs page.
Who treats you, and how many people that is
This is the difference patients feel most and notice last. High-volume clinics in any country, Turkey included, run on division of labour: one clinical team takes the impressions, a surgeon places the fixtures, a third person fits the crowns, and the person who answered your first message was a coordinator. Published accounts of large package clinics describe exactly that. It is efficient, it is not dishonest, and it works for some people.
Here, the dentist who will treat you plans your case, places your implants and fits your final crowns. The dentist on your plan is the dentist in the room, and you are told at the plan stage who does what. If you want to test that promise against any clinic before you choose, the fifteen questions on how to choose a dental clinic abroad are written for exactly that.
The second trip is the part nobody budgets for
An implant needs the bone to grow onto it. That takes months, not days, whatever country you are in. So a single implant means two visits of 2–3 days, roughly 3–6 months apart, and a full arch means 5–7 days for the surgery and the temporary bridge, then 2–3 days after 4–6 months for the final one.
A quote that shows one trip has either priced a temporary as a finished result or left the second trip off the paperwork. When you compare countries, compare two flights, two hotel stays and two sets of days off work. Tirana is about 3 hours from London, 3h15 from Manchester and 3h30 from Dublin. Doubled, an hour each way stops being a detail.
Not sure whether your case needs one trip or two? Ask on WhatsApp at +355 69 691 1118 with a photo of the gap, and you will get a straight answer about days and visits before any quote.
Language, records and the eighteen-month question
Implant work is not finished when you land at home. A screw loosens, a crown chips, a gum looks unhappy. What matters then is whether you can describe it to the person who did the work in a language you both use well, and whether they still have your file.
The team speaks Albanian, English, Italian and Spanish. You leave with your CBCT, the surgical report, the implant system and lot numbers, and the crown material, as files you can hand to any dentist anywhere. Your guarantee is written: 5 years on the fixture and 5 years on the crown, with the conditions printed on it, plus the manufacturer’s own warranty behind Straumann and Nobel Biocare.
When Turkey is the better choice
There are real cases where it is. If you live in a city with a direct flight to Istanbul and none to Tirana, the travel maths can favour Turkey, especially for the second trip. If you already have family in Turkey to stay with, that is a genuine saving no clinic can match. If your budget is fixed at the bottom of the range and you are treating one or two teeth, the cheapest published Turkish quotes go lower than ours, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. And if you want a large volume of crowns delivered in a single week, package clinics are built for that throughput and we are not.
Where we would argue for Tirana is the case that needs planning: bone that is thin, a mixed mouth of teeth to save and teeth to replace, or a full arch you intend to keep for decades. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office publishes guidance on going abroad for medical treatment, and its themes are continuity of care, records and follow-up rather than price. Those are the three things a surgeon-led clinic with one clinical team per patient is structured around.
What we would ask a clinic in either country
Six questions, in this order. Which implant system, by name and reference? Who places it and who fits the crown? What is in the price and what is billed separately? How many trips and how many days, in writing? What is the guarantee, in writing, and what voids it? What happens if something fails once I am home, and who pays for what? Any clinic worth your money answers all six in an e-mail. Our answers, and the treatment itself step by step, are on the dental implants page.
FAQ
Is Albania good for dental implants?
For planning-led cases, yes, and for the same reasons Turkey became popular: European-trained dentists, laboratory work done locally, and costs that are a fraction of UK private fees. What you should check is specific rather than national: the registration of the dentist who will operate, the implant system by name, whether the plan is written before you travel, and whether the guarantee exists on paper. Ask those four things of any clinic in any country and the answer stops being about the country.
How much is a single tooth implant in Tirana?
An implant with a zirconia crown is €450–650 here, and the implant alone is €300–450 with an unbranded system, €700 with Nobel Biocare or €800 with Straumann BLT. If the CBCT shows the site needs bone, add €200–400. The first consultation and the CBCT review are free. Your written plan puts the exact figure for your mouth on one page, so nothing is estimated twice.
Is Turkey cheaper than Albania for implants?
At the bottom of the published bands, sometimes. Turkey’s surveyed range for a single implant is €300–700 and ours starts at €300–450, so the cheapest Turkish quote can undercut us. Compared honestly, though, the two countries are in the same price region, and the gap between them is smaller than the gap between either and the UK. Once the crown, any grafting and two flights are in the same column, the totals usually finish within a few hundred euro of each other.
Do I really have to fly twice for an implant?
For a conventional implant, yes. The fixture needs 3–6 months for the bone to integrate before it can carry a crown, so the plan is 2–3 days for the surgery and 2–3 days later for the crown. Immediate placement after an extraction can shorten the first stage, and a temporary tooth can cover the gap in between, but nobody can compress osseointegration into a week. Any clinic offering a finished implant in one visit is fitting something temporary.
What happens if an implant fails after I get home?
You send photographs and a description to the clinic and the dentist who will treat you reviews them, usually the same week. Small things, a loose crown screw or a sore gum, can often be handled by a dentist near you with our notes, and we send the specification. Anything involving the fixture is dealt with here under the written guarantee: 5 years on the implant, 5 on the crown. The conditions, including your check-ups, are on the guarantee document you leave with.
Use the quote form to send your X-ray, your photographs and, if you have one, the quote you were given elsewhere. The dentist who will treat you reviews it personally and you receive the written plan and the exact price by e-mail within 24 hours.
