Dental Implants in Tirana When You Are Already Here
Most pages about dental implants in Tirana are written for someone holding a boarding pass. This one is for you if you live here, work here or are staying for a season: a resident of the city, an expat on a contract, a student, or someone visiting family for a month. Your implant is the same implant. Everything around it is easier, because the appointments can be short, the healing checks happen in person, and nothing has to be compressed to fit a flight home.
| An implant as a local patient | |
|---|---|
| First appointment | examination, photographs, CBCT where the case needs one |
| Cost of that appointment and the scan review | Free |
| Written plan | issued before treatment, itemised per tooth |
| Surgery appointment | usually under an hour for a single implant, local anaesthesia |
| Healing check | in person, about ten days after surgery |
| Waiting time before the crown | 3–6 months while the bone integrates |
| Implant with zirconia crown | €450–650 |
| Guarantee | 5 years on the fixture, 5 on the crown |
Bring or send any X-ray you already have and book the assessment. You will leave the first appointment knowing whether the site needs bone work, how many appointments are involved and what the total will be.
What is different when you do not fly
Four things, and they are all clinical rather than logistical.
The timetable can follow your bone instead of your calendar. A patient with three days in the country needs everything to happen in those three days. You do not, so an extraction can be left to heal properly before an implant goes in, and a graft can be given the months it wants rather than being combined with surgery to save a trip.
Healing can be checked by eye. A visit about ten days after surgery takes ten minutes and catches the small things early.
Appointments can be split. A crown fitting can be a short visit at a convenient hour instead of a long session bolted onto the end of a trip.
And problems are close by. If something feels wrong on a Tuesday evening, you are a taxi ride from the person who did the work, not a flight.
The sequence, appointment by appointment
| Appointment | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | Examination, photographs, CBCT, discussion of options |
| 2 | The written plan is reviewed with you and dates are set |
| 3 | Implant surgery, local anaesthesia, aftercare instructions |
| 4 | Healing check about ten days later |
| 5 | After 3–6 months, the integration check and the digital impression |
| 6 | The zirconia crown is fitted and the bite is adjusted |
Where a tooth still has to come out, the extraction is either appointment three or an appointment of its own, depending on the site. The clinical detail behind each of these steps, the two premium systems and the unbranded option are on the dental implants page.

What it costs here, and how it is paid
An implant is €300–450 with an unbranded system, €700 with a Nobel Biocare implant or €800 with a Straumann BLT. With the zirconia crown, the usual total for one tooth is €450–650. If the CBCT shows the site is short of bone, a graft is €200–400 and a sinus lift, for upper back teeth, is €500–800. Prices are quoted in euro.
Because the work is spread over months, the money can be too.
Coming to the clinic
We are in central Tirana, open Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 18:00, and the exact address comes with your appointment confirmation. Most central districts are within walking distance and the rest of the city is a short ride.
FAQ
How long does a single implant take from start to finish?
Three to six months from the surgery to the finished crown, which is the time the bone needs to grow onto the fixture. The chair time inside those months is small: under an hour for the surgery, ten minutes for the healing check, a short appointment for the impression and another for fitting the crown. If a tooth has to be extracted first, add the healing time for the socket, which the CBCT and the examination will tell us.
Can the implant go in on the same day as the extraction?
Sometimes. Immediate placement works when the socket walls are intact, there is no active infection and the bone below the socket can hold the fixture firmly. When those conditions are not met, placing an implant immediately risks the whole result to save a few weeks, so it is better to let the site heal. This is decided on the CBCT rather than on preference, and the plan states which route your tooth is taking.
Will I have a gap while the implant heals?
For a front tooth, no. A temporary is made so you are not without a visible tooth at any point. For a back tooth, many patients choose to leave the space during healing, because a temporary there is more of a nuisance than a benefit, and that is your decision rather than ours. Either way it is agreed in the plan before surgery, not improvised afterwards.
Do I need to take time off work?
For a single implant, generally not more than the rest of the day. The surgery is done under local anaesthesia, you drive or walk out afterwards, and the usual advice is a quiet evening, soft food and no gym for a couple of days. Multiple implants, a graft or a sinus lift are bigger events, and for those we will tell you honestly how the next 48 hours usually feel so you can plan the week around them.
Is it worth having implants done here rather than waiting until I go home?
That depends where home is, but for UK and Irish patients the arithmetic is stark: a single implant is quoted at £2,000–2,500 privately in the UK, against €450–650 here for the implant and its crown. You are also already in the city, which removes the two return flights a foreign patient has to budget for. The clinical argument for not waiting is separate and simpler: bone shrinks where a tooth is missing, and waiting can turn a straightforward case into one that needs grafting.
Use the quote form to describe which teeth are missing and attach any X-ray you have. The dentist who will treat you reviews it and you receive a written plan with the appointments and the total within 24 hours.
