An English-Speaking Dentist in Tirana for Residents and Visitors
If you live in Tirana and English is the language you think in, finding an English-speaking dentist matters less for the small talk than for the consent. You need to understand what is being proposed, what the alternatives are and what it will cost, in a language in which you can ask an awkward question. Our clinic works in Albanian, English, Italian and Spanish, the dentist who will treat you consults in English, and every treatment plan is issued in writing in the language you choose.

Who this page is for
Embassy and international organisation staff on two or three year postings. People working for companies with offices in Tirana. Remote workers and long-stay visitors who came for a season and stayed. Students on exchange. Tourists who have four days left and a problem that cannot wait for the flight home. What these groups have in common is that they are not dental tourists: nobody flew here for a crown. Something happened, or a check-up is overdue, and the practical question is who to see this week.
That changes the kind of information you need. You need to know where the clinic is, whether you can be seen quickly, what it costs, and whether the record of what was done will make sense to a dentist in your own country afterwards.
How a consultation runs in English
You are examined, photographed and, where it is relevant, scanned. Then the findings are explained in plain language: this tooth, this problem, these options, this cost, this timescale. You are given the alternative of doing nothing where doing nothing is genuinely an option, and told what will probably happen if you choose it.
Nothing is decided in the chair on the day if it does not have to be. The plan goes to you in writing, in English, with a price per line, and you can read it at home and come back with questions. That is the same written plan the clinic sends to patients who fly in, and the process behind it is described on your visit to Tirana.
What English-speaking patients most often come in for
A crown that has come loose or fractured. A tooth that has been aching for a fortnight and has now started keeping you awake, which is usually a nerve and usually needs a root canal. A wisdom tooth that flares up twice a year. A gap that has been ignored for a decade and now needs to be dealt with before the neighbouring teeth drift. Whitening before a wedding or a conference. And second opinions on treatment proposed somewhere else, which is a large part of the week.
Prices for all of it are published rather than quoted privately: implants from €300–450, an implant with its crown at €450–650, a zirconia crown at €150–250, a root canal with the crown at €200–350, whitening at €100–200, a wisdom tooth extraction at €100–200. The full list is on the dental prices page.
Prefer to arrange it in two messages? Send a WhatsApp to +355 69 691 1118 with the words “appointment in English” and what you need, and we will offer you times.
Paperwork that travels with you
A posting ends and people move on. Everything we do is recorded so that it can be continued elsewhere: the scan as a file, the material of every crown, the implant system and its reference, the surgical note, the guarantee document. If you are here for two years and your implant is placed in your first, you take a complete record with you when you go, and any dentist can read it.
That also matters for money. Some employers and insurers reimburse dental treatment abroad if the invoice is itemised properly.
Getting here
The clinic is in central Tirana, walkable from most of the central districts and a short taxi ride from the rest of the city. If you are arriving from the airport rather than from home, it is 17 km and about 25 minutes by car. Directions, landmarks and the parking situation are on the clinic location page.
FAQ
Does the dentist speak English, or only the receptionist?
The dentist. The dentist who will treat you consults, examines and explains in English, and the clinic works in Albanian, English, Italian and Spanish. This distinction is worth checking anywhere: a clinic where only the front desk speaks your language leaves you agreeing to treatment through a translator who is not clinically trained. Ask directly whether the person who will treat you speaks English, and ask for your written plan in English rather than as a verbal summary.
Can I be seen quickly if something has broken?
Tell us what has happened and send a photograph, and you will be given the earliest appointment that is clinically sensible. A fractured crown, a lost temporary or swelling is treated as urgent; a cosmetic consultation is scheduled normally. Our published hours are Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 18:00.
Is treatment in Tirana cheaper than at home for a resident?
For UK and Irish patients, considerably. A single implant is quoted at £2,000–2,500 privately in the UK against €450–650 here for the implant and its crown, and a zirconia crown is £400–800 there against €150–250 here. Since you are already living in Tirana, none of the travel cost that normally sits alongside those comparisons applies to you, which is why residents often complete work they had been postponing.
Will I be pushed towards expensive treatment?
You should judge that rather than take our word for it, so here is the test: our plans list what is necessary, what is optional and what can wait, in three separate groups. If a tooth can be saved with a root canal and a crown instead of being removed and implanted, the plan says so, even though the implant route earns more. If you want a second view on any plan, including ours, bring it in and it will be read on its clinical merits.
Use the contact form to book, in English, and say whether you would like a morning or an afternoon. You will get a confirmed time and, if you have sent photographs, a note from the dentist who will treat you on what to expect at the appointment.
