Dental crown cost: the four situations a crown is priced in

A zirconia crown costs 150–250 euro at Medicus Molaris. Dental crown cost in Albania is one of the simplest prices on the list, but the number on your quote depends on what else the tooth needs first, and there are four situations a crown gets quoted in. The one most people are asking about, a crown on a tooth that has just had a root canal, is 200–350 euro for both together.

Material
Zirconia as standard, E-max where translucency matters more than strength
Price, crown alone
150–250 euro
Price, with the root canal it needs
200–350 euro for the pair
Days in Tirana
4 to 5, one trip
Appointments
Two: preparation with a temporary, then fitting
Lab
In Tirana, so the crown is made and adjusted in the same city
Guarantee
5 years in writing

Send a photograph of the tooth and an X-ray. You will be told which of the four situations below applies, whether the tooth needs anything before the crown, and the total for that tooth.

The four situations

Situation What is being priced Price (EUR)
A broken or heavily filled tooth, pulp healthy The crown alone 150–250
A tooth that needs the pulp treated first Root canal and crown together 200–350
An old crown to be replaced Removal, preparation review, new crown 150–250 plus the removal, to be confirmed
A crown on an implant The crown and its connection to the fixture To be confirmed separately

The third and fourth lines are the two that quotes elsewhere tend to blur. Replacing an old crown is not the same job as making a first one: the old unit has to come off without damaging what is underneath, and sometimes what is underneath turns out to need a root canal that was not visible until the crown was off. That possibility belongs on the written plan in advance, with its price, not as a conversation in the chair.

How many crowns fit in one visit

The limiting factor is not the dentist’s time, it is the lab and your comfort. Preparing several teeth in one appointment is routine; what takes the days is the milling, the layering where a front tooth needs it, and the try-in before cementing. A 4 to 5 day stay comfortably covers a group of crowns on one side of the mouth, with a temporary set in between so you eat and speak normally.

Where a larger number is planned across both sides, we split the preparation across two mornings rather than doing everything at once, because a mouth with every tooth prepared on the same day is uncomfortable for three days and produces a worse bite record for the lab.

If you have several teeth to crown and want to know whether they fit in one trip, send the X-ray on WhatsApp at +355 69 691 1118 and say how many days you can be away. The plan is built around the days you have, not the other way round.

What decides zirconia or E-max

Zirconia is the stronger of the two and takes a heavy bite, which is why it is the default for molars and for anyone who grinds. E-max transmits light more like natural enamel, which is why it holds an advantage on a single front tooth that has to disappear next to its neighbours. Neither is a premium version of the other; they are two materials with two jobs, and the difference is worked through on zirconia or porcelain crowns. The clinical detail of how the crown is made, from digital scan to cementation, is on zirconia crowns.

Lifespan and what the guarantee actually covers

A well-fitted crown on a healthy root routinely serves fifteen years and often longer. What ends a crown is almost never the ceramic: it is decay starting at the margin where the crown meets the tooth, or a root fracture under it. Both are reasons the guarantee has conditions, and the conditions are printed on the document rather than implied. 5 years in writing, subject to the check-ups listed.

One honest limitation: no guarantee anywhere covers a tooth that breaks below the crown because the root was already cracked. That is why a tooth with a doubtful root is flagged before treatment rather than after, even when flagging it means recommending against the crown you came for.

The UK, and the figures we will not publish

Where Zirconia crown
Tirana, this clinic 150–250 euro
United Kingdom, private fees £400–800
Turkey No crown figure published in the sources we hold

The UK line is enough for the comparison most patients need: a crown here is a fraction of a private UK crown, and four or five crowns cover a flight and a hotel with room to spare.

Turkey is left blank on purpose. Turkish clinics publish veneer and implant ranges that we can cite, and we have no sourced crown figure, so we are not going to estimate one. A page that invents the number it is comparing itself against is not worth reading.

FAQ

Is a crown on an implant the same price as one on a tooth?

Not quite, and the difference is the connection. A crown on a natural tooth is cemented to what remains of the tooth. A crown on an implant sits on an abutment screwed into the fixture, so there is an extra component and an extra step. Where the implant is placed here, the complete implant and crown is 450–650 euro on the price list. Where the implant already exists and only the crown is needed, that is a separate quote, and it is on our list of prices still to publish.

Do I need a crown after a root canal, or is a filling enough?

For a molar or a premolar, a crown. Removing the pulp and cutting an access hole through the biting surface leaves the tooth dry and structurally weakened, and the failure that follows a filling-only repair is a vertical split, which cannot be fixed. For an upper front tooth with a small access hole and plenty of remaining structure, a filling can sometimes be enough. Which applies to your tooth is stated on the plan, and the reasoning is set out on root canal treatment.

Can you match a single crown to my other front teeth?

That is the hardest thing in this discipline and it is worth being straight about. A single front crown next to natural teeth has to match colour, translucency and the way light passes through the edge, and the closer your natural teeth are to perfect, the harder the match. It is done with photographs, a shade taken in daylight and, where the case is difficult, a try-in before final cementation so the crown can go back to the lab if it is not right.

What if the crown feels high when I bite?

Say so before you leave the chair, and again at the check appointment the next day. A crown that sits a fraction high is the most common small problem after fitting and it takes two minutes to adjust. Left alone for weeks it causes a bruised ligament and sometimes a cracked crown. This is a practical argument for the lab being in the same city: an adjustment or a remake happens within your stay rather than after you have flown home.

Use the quote form with your X-ray and a photograph of the tooth beside its neighbours. The dentist who will treat you reviews it and you receive the material, the price per crown and the number of days by e-mail within 24 hours.
