Veneers in Turkey or Albania: The Question Is How Much Tooth You Keep

The honest comparison of veneers in Turkey vs Albania is not about price, because the prices are similar: published Turkish figures for a porcelain veneer are €150–400, and an E-max veneer here is €200–350. The comparison is about what the word “veneer” is being used to describe. A veneer is a thin facing bonded to the front of a tooth that keeps most of its enamel. A crown is a cover that replaces the whole outer surface of a tooth that has been reduced on every side. Both are legitimate treatments. Only one of them is reversible in any meaningful sense, and only one of them should be sold as a veneer.

Reading the two treatments apart
Enamel removed for an E-max veneer a thin layer from the front and the biting edge
Enamel removed for a crown the outer surface on all sides, down to the gum
What the tooth looks like before fitting a veneer preparation still looks like a tooth; a crown preparation looks like a small tapered peg
Temporary stage veneers may need thin temporaries; crown preparations always need full temporaries
Our price €200–350 per E-max veneer, €150–250 per zirconia crown
Days in Tirana 3–5 days for veneers, 3–5 days for crowns
Guarantee 5 years, conditions printed on the document

Send a photograph of your smile with your lips relaxed and a second one smiling widely. You will be told which of your teeth are veneer cases, which are not, and why, before any price is discussed.

What a €150 veneer usually is

At the bottom of the published Turkish band, the economics only work as a crown. Full-coverage crowns are faster to make predictable: the laboratory has a complete circumference to work with, the shade is easier to control because the underlying tooth is hidden, and eight to twenty units can be delivered inside a week. A genuine veneer demands a conservative preparation, a mock-up, a try-in and a bond, which is slower and less forgiving.

So a very low per-unit price for “veneers” on a full smile is a strong hint that what is planned is crowns. That is worth knowing in advance, not because crowns are wrong, but because a crowned tooth has committed itself: it will need crowns for the rest of its life. Our own division between the two is set out plainly on veneers versus crowns.

How to read your quote before anyone touches your teeth

Look for five things. The material, by name: E-max and lithium disilicate mean a veneer or a thin crown, zirconia usually means a crown. The word “preparation” with a depth or a description. Whether a mock-up or wax-up stage is listed. The number of units against the number of teeth visible in your smile, because twenty units for a ten-tooth smile means the back teeth are included too. And what happens to the teeth that only show when you laugh.

If the quote lists units, a material, and nothing else, ask one question in writing: will my enamel be reduced on all sides, or only on the front? The answer decides what you are buying. If a quote is already in front of you and you want it read line by line, the veneers cost page shows how our totals are built for 6, 8, 10 and 20 units.

What the extra days here are for

A five to six day veneer visit looks slow next to a three-day package. Those days are the mock-up, the try-in and the bite check. On day one we photograph, measure and design, and you see a mock-up of the proposed shape in your own mouth before any enamel is touched. That is the moment to say the teeth are too long, too white or too square, and it costs nothing to change then.

The laboratory is in Tirana, so the porcelain is made a few streets away rather than shipped, and there is time to send a unit back if the edge is not right. On the last day the veneers are bonded, the bite is adjusted and a night guard is supplied where it is needed. The full treatment sequence is on the porcelain veneers page.

When Turkey is the right choice for veneers

If your teeth are already crowned, the veneer question is moot and you are choosing a crown provider. High-volume clinics do crowns extremely efficiently, and in that specific case a lower per-unit price with a competent laboratory is a reasonable decision. The same is true if your case is genuinely simple, your shade expectations are modest and you have a direct flight to Istanbul.

Where we would argue for Tirana: any case where enamel can still be saved, any case where the shade and shape need to be designed rather than chosen from a chart, and any case where the front teeth are worn or the bite is doing damage. Those are the cases that get remade, and remakes are what fills the page on fixing “Turkey teeth”.

FAQ

Are Turkish veneers actually crowns?

Often, yes, and a patient cannot tell from the invoice. The published price band of €150–400 per unit is compatible with either treatment, and the word veneer is used commercially in several countries to mean any cosmetic covering. The way to find out is to ask in writing whether the enamel will be reduced on all sides of the tooth, and to look at the temporaries: if they wrap the whole tooth to the gum, the preparation underneath is a crown preparation.

How much do veneers cost in Tirana?

An E-max veneer is €200–350, which includes the design stage, the mock-up, temporaries where they are needed and the bonding appointment. A zirconia crown, where a crown is the correct prescription, is €150–250. A full front-teeth transformation of twenty units is €4,000–7,000. The first consultation and the photographic assessment are free, and the written plan states the material for every single tooth.

Will my teeth be filed down for veneers?

A small amount of enamel is removed, typically a fraction of a millimetre from the front surface and a little from the biting edge, so the porcelain sits flush rather than bulky. That is not the same as the all-round reduction a crown needs. Where a tooth is already very worn or heavily restored, a veneer may not have a sound surface to bond to, and we will say so and recommend a crown for that tooth rather than bond porcelain to something unreliable.

Can I have veneers on a holiday of only three days?

Not properly. The mock-up and try-in stages exist so that the shape and shade are agreed before the porcelain is final, and the laboratory needs working days. three to five days is the honest minimum for a front-teeth case. If you have three days, the sensible options are an assessment, photographs and a plan now, with the treatment booked for a later trip, or whitening, which is a single appointment and does not commit your enamel to anything.

Do veneers stain or discolour later?

Glazed E-max porcelain does not absorb stain the way natural enamel or older composite materials do, so the colour of the veneer itself is stable. What can change is the appearance at the edges, where your own tooth and gum meet the porcelain, and the natural teeth behind and beside the veneers. That is why shade is chosen for the whole smile, and why whitening, when it is wanted, is done before the porcelain shade is fixed rather than after.
