Full Mouth Rehabilitation: Saving What Can Be Saved, Replacing the Rest

Most mouths that need rebuilding are not empty. They hold a mixture: a few teeth that are sound, a few that can be saved with a root canal and a crown, one or two that have to go, and gaps where teeth were lost years ago. A full mouth rehabilitation is the plan that decides which category each tooth belongs to and then does the work in the right order. At Medicus Molaris that decision is written down tooth by tooth, with a price on every line, before you book a single flight.

Local anaesthesia for every stage
Visits
Two or three, spread over 6 to 9 months
Days in Tirana

Individual lines, not a package: crowns at 150–250, implants from 300–450 euro
Guarantee
5 years on implants, 5 on crowns and bridges

Send a recent panoramic X-ray and photographs of your upper and lower teeth. The dentist who will treat you returns a tooth-by-tooth plan that says which teeth are kept, which are restored and which are replaced, each with its own price.

Why keeping teeth usually beats replacing them

A natural tooth root holds bone in place, carries the nerve supply that tells you how hard you are biting, and costs less to restore than to replace. A tooth with a healthy root and a broken crown is worth a root canal and a zirconia crown at 200–350 euro, which is less than an implant and a crown, and it leaves the site untouched for the future.

A tooth is written off when the root is fractured, when decay runs below the bone level, or when the supporting bone around it is gone. Those judgements are visible on the CBCT and are listed with the reason for each, so you are not told “this one has to come out” without seeing why. The two treatments that carry most of a mixed plan have their own pages: root canal treatment and zirconia crowns.

Where a whole jaw is beyond saving, the plan switches to a full arch on implants. That threshold, and what it costs, is the subject of All-on-4 dental implants.

The order of the work, and why it does not change

Rebuilding a mouth in the wrong sequence is how people end up paying twice.

  1. Anything infected is dealt with first. An abscess under a tooth or an infected socket compromises everything built near it.
  2. Extractions and grafting next, because the sockets need 3 to 4 months before implants go in, and that waiting time happens while you are at home.
  3. Implants go in on the same trip as the extractions where the bone allows it, which saves you a whole journey.
  4. Root canals and core build-ups on the teeth being kept.
  5. The bite is planned before any final crown is made. If half the mouth is being rebuilt, the height of the new teeth is a decision, not an accident. This is the step that separates a rehabilitation from a set of individual repairs.
  6. All final crowns, bridges and implant crowns are fitted in one visit, so the bite is balanced across everything at once.

A worked example

This is the shape of a typical plan for an upper and lower jaw with 14 teeth needing work. Your own plan replaces the quantities with yours and totals the lines once.

Line Quantity Price each, in euro
Root canal with a zirconia crown 3 teeth 200–350
Zirconia crown on a prepared tooth 5 teeth 150–250
Implant, clinic’s standard system, with crown 3 sites 450–650
Implant, Nobel Biocare 1 site 700
Three-unit zirconia bridge 1 span 400–600
Bone graft at one site 1 200–400
Consultation, CBCT review and planning 1 Free

Every line carries the tooth number it belongs to in the real plan, so you can follow it against your own X-ray. The total appears once, as a single figure, and the plan states which two lines could change and by how much: the rules for that are on how your quote works. Price bands for whole-mouth routes side by side are on full mouth dental implants cost.

Ask for the plan with the teeth grouped by visit, not just by price. Seeing which work lands on which trip is what makes the budget and the time off work real. WhatsApp +355 69 691 1118 to send X-rays straight from your phone.

How the visits are arranged

Visit Length Work done
Visit one 3–5 days CBCT, extractions, implant surgery where possible, temporary crowns
At home 3–4 months Healing of sockets and implants, photo reviews on request
Visit two 3–5 days Root canals finished, teeth prepared, bite registration, temporaries updated
At home 2–3 months Laboratory work, final approval of shape and shade by photograph
Visit three 3–5 days All final crowns, bridges and implant crowns fitted and balanced

Two visits are enough for many plans. Three appear when implants and extensive crown work are both needed, because the implants cannot be loaded until they have integrated. The plan says which of the two applies to you before you book anything.

FAQ

Can a full mouth be rebuilt in one trip?

Only if no implants are involved and no sockets have to heal. A mouth that needs crowns on existing teeth can be finished in one visit of 3–5 days. As soon as an implant is in the plan, the healing months force a second trip. Anyone offering a complete rebuild with implants inside a single week is fitting temporaries and calling them finished.

Will my new teeth look like a set of identical blocks?

Not unless you ask for that. Shade and shape are chosen at the try-in against your own face, and a rehabilitation usually varies the shade slightly from front to back because natural teeth do. Photographs taken at the start are used as the reference, and you approve the try-in before anything is cemented.

What happens to my bite if half my teeth change height?

It is measured, not guessed. Records of your existing bite are taken before the teeth are prepared, the new height is tested on the temporaries you wear between visits, and the final crowns reproduce what worked. If you grind, a guard is made at the end to protect the work.

Is it cheaper to take everything out and do All-on-4 instead?

Sometimes, and the plan will say so if it is. Four implants and one bridge per arch is a fixed, predictable cost; fourteen individual restorations can add up beyond it. What the arithmetic ignores is that extracting healthy roots cannot be undone. Where the two routes land within a few hundred euro of each other, keeping your own teeth is the recommendation.

Can I do the work in stages across a few years?

Yes, and for many patients that is the sensible route. The plan is written in stages with a price per stage, the urgent work first, the cosmetic work last. Stage one deals with infection, pain and anything that will get worse if left. The rest can wait for the next trip without the earlier work being wasted.

Send your X-ray through the quote form with a note about which teeth bother you most. The dentist who will treat you reviews the case, writes the tooth-by-tooth plan with the stages and the exact total, and you receive it by e-mail within 24 hours.
